CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Display a computer keyboard or charts showing computer keyboard for pupils to identify different parts of computer keyboard.

Teacher’s Activities – Note the pupils points on the board.

 

PARTS OF COMPUTER KEYBOARD 

1. Number – 0, 1 to 9

2. Capital letters – A to Z

3.Arithmetic signs – +, -, > or <, %  =, etc.

4. Other symbols – @, #, $, &, ( ), { }, /  \, *

5. Punctuation marks – . , ?  ”  ‘  _  – !  :  ;

6. f1 to f12, etc.

 

Teacher’s Activities – Groups the parts of computer keyboard into the following –

1. ALPHABETIC KEYS 

Alphabetic keys are the keys on the computer keyboard with the alphabetical letters from A – Z.

 

2. NUMERIC KEYS

Numeric keys are the keys on the computer keyboard with the numbers from 0 – 9.

 

3. SPECIAL CHARACTER KEYS

Special character keys are keys on the computer keyboard with the @ # $ & ( ) { } /  \ * – . , ?  ”  ‘  _  – !  :  ; etc.

 

4. FUNCTION KEYS

Functions keys are the keys on the computer keyboard with f1, f2, f3, f4, f5, f6, f7, f8, f9, f10, f12, and f12.

 

LESSON EVALUATION/ASSIGNMENT 

Match the following keys with their correct name –

Alphabetic keys                       1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.

Numeric keys                           f1, f2, f3, etc.

Special character keys            a, b, c, d, e, etc.

Functions keys                         # $ & ( ) { } /  \ *, etc.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides the pupils to identify and describe the parts of the keyboard.

Pupil’s Activities – Observe the computer keyboard and identify its parts. .

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
