PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to –

1. explain what body make-up is.

2. mention parts of the body.

3. identify make-up used on different parts of the body, e.g face, hands and legs.

4. identify materials used for different parts of the body.

5. practical demonstration on how beautify the body.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify and describe make up.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of pictures of persons wearing traditional make-up materials e.g. tiro, tangele, camwood, ndon or Nzu (white chalk), kaya and kwaliya, Gazar.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Body makeup are things that are used on the face and other parts of our body to make us beautiful and attractive. Powder, body cream and lipstick are commonly used as body makeup.

 

PARTS OF THE BODY TO BE BEAUTIFIED

The parts of the body to be beautified are the face, hands and legs.

1. THE FACE 

Our face is part of the head. It is from the forehead to the chin. The face contained the eyes, ears, nose and the mouth.

Materials commonly used for beautifying the face are powder, face cream and lipstick are applied to the face.

 

2. THE HANDS 

The hands are part of the body that are used for holding and carrying things. We also used our hands to work. The hands includes our fingers, finger nails, thumb and palm. The legs are at the end of the arm.

Materials commonly used for beautifying the hands are finger nail and tattoo paint, extra nails, ring and bracelet.

 

3. THE LEGS 

The leg are part of a body that we used to walking and standing. Just the hands, the legs include the toes, nails and palm.

Materials commonly used for beautifying the legs are nail and tattoo paint, extra nails, rings and bracelets.

 

LESSON 2 – BEAUTIFYING THE BODY – PRACTICAL BODY MAKEUP 

Teacher organizes practical demonstration on how to beautify different parts of the body.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays chart showing makeup process or play a short video of makeup.

4. Teacher asks the pupils to describe the contents of the chart or the video.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and describe body makeup.

5. Teacher uses the chart/video and the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and lesson class discussion on the meaning of makeup.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the class discussion.

6. Teacher asks the pupils to identify and describe the makeup parts of the body that need beautifying.

7. Teacher explains the parts of the body to be beautify and the materials needed for each.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and explain the parts of the body to be beautify and the materials needed for each.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board by using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions correctly and write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
