Throwing of Objects – Small and Big Balls

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to – grasp, pick up small object with one or two hand, and release it.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of playground, balls, etc.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTION

Display chart showing children kicking, bouncing and throwing balls.

 

BIG BALL 

To throw an object like ball, grip the ball firmly with two (2) hands if it is a big ball and take a step backward and a step forward as you released.

Extend your arm sharply as the body is pushed outwards.

 

SMALL BALL 

To throw small ball, grip the ball firmly with one hand and release.

Extend your arm sharply as the body is pushed outwards.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Displays chart showing children kicking, bouncing and throwing balls.

3. Allows pupils to identify and describe each activity on the chart.

Pupil’s Activities – Describe each of the activity on the chart.

4. Brings out a ball and throw it light to one of the pupils.

5. Identify them to identify an activity that presents throwing of ball.

Pupil’s Activities – Watch the teacher and identify an activity that show throwing.

6. Guides pupils to grasp, pick up small object with one hand, and release it.

Pupil’s Activities – Grasp, pick up small object with one hand, and release it.

3. Demonstrates the basic manipulative movements – throwing, supervise the children and offers assistance.

Pupil’s Activities – Practice manipulative patterns of – throwing.

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
