TOPIC: GYMNASTIC ACTIVITIES WITH APPARATUS 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. mention some basic activities with apparatus.

2. perform basic activities with apparatus.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned basic gymnastic activities – floor activities.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Charts

2. Video

3. Gymnastic apparatus

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

INTRODUCTION

Gymnastics are activities which are performed on the floor, and with apparatus. Gymnastics can be performed in an open space, indoors or outdoors.

 

GYMNASTIC ACTIVITIES PERFORMED WITH APPARATUS 

Gymnastic activities performed with apparatus are –

 

 

Swinging with one or two ropes

 

 

Skipping

 

 

Vaulting

 

 

Balancing on the parallel bars

 

 

Somersault

 

 

Climbing

 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains the skills in the apparatus activities.

3. Demonstrates the skills using the apparatus.

Pupil’s Activities – Explain and practice apparatus activities.

4. Supervises the pupils.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
