TOPIC: SETTING UP A COMPUTER SYSTEM – COMPUTER CABLES 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. Describe computers cables.

2. Identify different computer systems.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Functional computers system
  2. Different types of computer cables

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Computer system has many parts. A computer works only when these parts are joined together well. The various parts of the computer must be joined together before a computer system starts to function. These parts are –

  1. system unit
  2. monitor
  3. keyboard
  4. mouse
  5. printer

 

 

MEANING OF COMPUTER CABLES 

Computer cables are wires used for connecting the various parts of the computer together.

 

DIFFERENT TYPES OF COMPUTER CABLES 

1. Power cables

2. USB cables

3. Ethernet Cables

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Gives different types of computer cables to the pupils for observation;

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils get the computer cables and observe it carefully.

3. Guides pupils to identify each of the cable by name from the chart;

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify power cables, USB cables and ethernet Cables by comparing with the chart.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
