By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. narrate the story of how Peter was released from the prison.

2. narrate the story of Paul and Silas in the prison.

The pupils can say the Lord’s Prayer.

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Teacher and Pupils say the Lord’s Prayer…

Sing – Prayer is the key….

 

 

EVIDENCE OF POWER OF PRAYER 

THE RELEASE OF PETER FROM THE PRISON

BIBLE READING – Acts 12:3 – 19

5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.

6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.

7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.

 

 

LESSON 2 – EVIDENCE OF POWER OF PRAYER 

THE RELEASE OF PAUL AND SILAS FROM THE PRISON

BIBLE READING – Acts 16:16 – 40 

25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Tell the story of prayer saved Peter, Paul and Silas in the prison.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s story.

3. Leads discussion on power of prayer and evidence as stated in the Bible.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the class discussion and discuss evidence of prayer.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the lesson summary and write as instructed.

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
