PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to –

1. identify different objects and their colours.

2. collect materials of different colour.

3. identify and define primary colours.

4. identify and describe national colours.

5. draw and colour national flag.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify objects with colours like red, black, blue, etc.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

3. Colours

4. Containers of various colours.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

We all have the colour we like best. One person may like blue colour, another may like red best and yet another may like green colour.

Each colour has somebody who likes it. What is your favorite colour?

 

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF COLOUR

Colour is the surface appearance of objects within and around us. It is available everywhere in our environment.

 

MEANING OF PRIMARY COLOURS

Primary colours are basic colours that can be mixed together to produce other colours. There are three (3) primary colours, red, blue, and yellow.

LESSON 3 – NATIONAL COLOURS

MEANING OF NATIONAL COLOURS

National colours are parts of a country’s national symbols. They are set of colours adopted by states and nations as their official national colours. Green and White are National Colours in Nigeria.

 

NATIONAL FLAG

The Nigerian flag is a symbol of our national pride and identity. It consists of Green White Green.

DRAW AND COLOUR NATIONAL FLAG

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher asks the pupils to make a list of objects in their classroom.

4. Teacher asks the pupils to state the colours of the objects on their lists.

5. Teacher guides the pupils to identify and state the objects with their colours. For example, black/white board, yellow ruler, etc.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and call objects with their colours.

6. Teacher uses the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and asks the pupils, what is your favourite colour?

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction and state their favourite colours.

7. Teacher displays chart showing shapes with primary colours and real objects with primary colours.

8. Teacher uses the chart and objects to explain and guides the pupils to identify primary colours.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and define primary colours.

9. Teacher displays chart showing Nigerian flags for the pupils to identify its colours and describe.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and describe national flag.

10. Teacher defines Nigerian flag as our national pride and identity.

11. Teacher asks the pupils to draw and colour Nigerian flag.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils define and appreciate the importance of Nigerian flag, draw and colour Nigerian flag.

12. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
