2. explain the meaning of Mosaic.

3. list materials and tools for Mosaic.

4. justify the materials and tools used for making mosaic.

5. create mosaic to reflect ill of HIV/AIDS, cultism, COVID 19, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

MEANING OF MOSAICS 

Mosaic is the art of putting together small pieces of materials like stone, tile, glass, etc. to produce artwork.

These artworks are used for decoration on walls, cardboard, plywood or floor.

 

 

MATERIALS FOR MOSAICS MAKING 

1. Tiles

2. Pieces of glass (coloured)

3. Cardboard (assorted colours)

4. Marble

5. Beads or buttons

6. Old calendars

7. Stone

 

 

TOOLS FOR MAKING MOSAIC ARTWORKS

1. Glue or Evostic

2. Cutters

3. Pencil

4. Hardboard

5. Scissors

 

 

LESSON 2 – CREATING MOSAIC ARTWORK 

Producing of Mosaics artwork reflecting one of the listed ills in the society –

1. Exam malpractice

2. HIV/AIDS

3. COVID 19

4. Cultism

5. Ghost

6. Mermaid

7. Half human half animal

8. Clergyman smoking

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Displays sample of mosaic artwork (if available) or chart showing mosaic artwork.

3. Lets the pupils examine the artworks, describe and state the materials and possibly tools for making mosaic artworks.

Pupil’s Activities – Examine, describe and state the materials and possibly tools for making mosaic artworks.

4. Uses the sample/chart and the pupils ideas about mosaic artwork to introduce and explain the meaning of mosaic artworks.

Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand and explain the meaning of mosaic.

5. Discuss some of the mosaic artwork that can be produced.

Pupil’s Activities – Make a list of mosaic artworks that can be produced.

6. Discuss materials and tools used for making mosaic artwork.

Pupil’s Activities – List materials and tools used for making mosaic artwork and demonstrate their uses.

7. Gets materials and tools used for making mosaic artworks (if available) or improvise (if it not).

8. Guides pupils in pairs or groups to produce mosaic reflecting the ills of the society.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify each of the materials and tools and participate actively in the production of mosaic artworks that reflect the ills in the society, e.g. exam malpractice.

9. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lesson and write as instructed.
