WEEK 1 – REVIEW OF FIRST TERM’S WORK

WEEK 2

TOPIC – HOW TO RISE CROPS
Content

  • What are farm crops?
  • Examples of crops
  1. Cereals e.g. maize, etc.
  2. Legumes e.g. cowpea, soybeans etc.
  3. Tuber e.g. yam, sweet potato, etc.

WEEK 3

TOPIC – PROCEDURE FOR RISING FARM CROPS
Content 

  • Pre-planting activities:
  1. Land clearing and stumping, 
  2. Preparing nursery beds and sowing, 
  3. Selection and transplanting seedling, 
  4. Planting locally grown crops on ridges and beds in the school farm,
  5. Planting must be in rows with spaces between plants. 

  • Post planting activities:

  1. Watering  mulching, thinking and supplying, 
  2. Application of fertility/manure, 
  3. Regular weeding, 
  4. Staking (where applicable), 
  5. Application of pesticides, 
  6. Harvesting of mature crops. 
  • Post Harvesting Activities:
  1. Processing/preservation, 
  2. Storage, 
  3. Marketing. 

WEEK 4

TOPIC – RAISE SCHOOL FARM (PRACTICAL)
Content

  • Prepare materials for planting, 
  • Prepare the land for planting using farm tools, 
  • Participate in the planning using farm tools, 
  • Care for the farm, 

WEEK 5

TOPIC – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION (ANIMAL HUSBANDRY)

  • What are livestock?
  • Examples of livestock
  1. goat
  2. cattle
  3. pig
  4. fowl
  5. etc.

WEEK 6
TOPIC – REQUIREMENT FOR LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT

TOPIC – HOW TO RISE LIVESTOCK (FARM ANIMALS)

  1. Construct a house or Provide shelter, 
  2. Prepare or Buy the young animal to rear
  3. Provision of food and water daily
  4. Provide medication when necessary
  5. Clean the house regularly
  6. Routine check by veterinary personnel
  7. Removal of sick
  8. Sell or slaughter when matured
