PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. explain air pollution.

2. name four things that can pollute the air.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

chats showing air pollution.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION 

Pollution is anything that makes our water, land, air and environment dirty and no safe to use.

MEANING OF AIR POLLUTION 

Air pollution is when the air is no longer pure for people to breathe.

For examples – smoke from factories and vehicles, as well as harmful chemicals in the air.

 

SOURCES AND CAUSES OF POLLUTION 

1. Generator smoke

2. Kerosene stove

3. Bush burning

4. Coal burning

5. Burning of refuse

6. Cigarettes

7. Vehicles and factories

8. Harmful chemicals

9. Dust

10. Industrial waste

11. Mining

LESSON TWO – REVISION AND WEEK 8 LESSON ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains the meaning of air pollution;

Pupil’s Activities – Explain the meaning of air pollution.

3. Guides and lets the pupils to make a list of sources and causes of air pollution;

Pupil’s Activities – Make a list of sources and causes of air pollution.
