PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  • By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to:
  1. mention some special dishes and drinks in their locality;
  2. talk on special dishes and drinks;
  3. give reasons for special dishes and drinks

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

  • The pupils are required to already have  learned
  1. major meal of the day I
  2. meal of the day II

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

  • The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of charts of special dishes and drinks.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Special dishes and drinks are dishes and drinks prepared for special occasions such as Christmas, Eld-el Kabir, Wedding cemetery, Birthday, Traditional ceremony, naming ceremony, Communion service, Club, special dinner, special guest, other than meals of the day – breakfast, lunch and dinner.

 

SPECIAL DISHES FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS 

  • Jollof rice

  • Fried rice

  • White rice with stew

  • Egusi soup with eba, amala, semo, pounded yam, etc.

  • Wedu soup with amala

  • Wedu and gbegiri soup

  • Edikaikong soup

  • Fish pepper soup with white rice

  • Meat pepper soup with white rice

  • Porridge yam

  • Porridge beans

SPECIAL DRINKS FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS 

 

 

  • Table water
  • Soft drink
  • Juice
  • Beer
  • Wine
  • Palm wine

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Guides the pupils to list special dishes and drinks in their locality;
  3. Pupil’s Activities – List special dishes and drinks taken.
  4. Guides the pupils in stating special dishes and drinks in different special occasions.

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – meal planning II

  • Pupil to:
  1. mention some special dishes and drinks in their locality;
  2. talk on special dishes and drinks;
  3. give reasons for special dishes and drinks.
