By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. read stories correctly.
  2. identify values in the lessons learnt.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Collection of popular folktales/short stories.
  2. Course book.
  3. Flash cards of new words.
  4. Chalk/white board.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

 

Build a short story on Road Safety. Or A reading passage selected from the course book based on regard and concern for interest of others.

 

 

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Guides pupils to read the given short stories.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – Read given short stories.
  4. Explains the meaning of safety on the roads.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s explanation.
  6. Guides pupils to discuss the short stories – characters, lessons learnt, etc.
  7. Pupil’s Activities – Discuss the characters and lessons learnt etc. in pairs or in groups and make presentations.
  8. Guides pupils to recall the short stories.
  9. Pupil’s Activities – Recall short stories.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
