The pupils can identify some of the craft items at home or in the school.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Craft is the making useful things by hands. When you make things with your hands, they are called craft. We can use our hands to make different crafts.

 

TYPES OF CRAFTS

There are three (3) types of crafts, namely –

1. Embroidery

2. Crafts in the home

3. Drawing of craft items

 

MEANING OF EMBROIDERY CRAFTS

Embroidery crafts are crafts made on clothes using materials such as needle and thread.

For examples, embroidery crafts are –

1. Table cloth

2. Handkerchief

3. Small purse, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – MAKING SIMPLE EMBROIDERY CRAFTS

MATERIALS NEEDED – fabric, paper embroidery patterns, pencil, embroidery needle, embroidery thread in colors, scissors, wooden embroidery hoop, twine or ribbon.

 

GUIDELINES 

1. Cut a piece of fabric so that it is about one inch bigger than your embroidery hoop on all sides.

2. Trace your design onto your fabric with a pencil.

3. Put your fabric into the embroidery hoop so it is nice and tight.

4. Thread your first color of embroidery thread into a needle and make a small knot at the end. Starting on the backside of your fabric, pull your thread through the fabric where your design starts.

5. Stitch along the hand-drawn design, leaving a small space between each stitch.

6. Cut the excess fabric around your embroidery hoop.

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

As stated in the performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays charts showing different types of crafts.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils examine and identify types of crafts.

3. Teacher shows the groups the real embroidery craft work.

Pupil’s Activities – The identify and describe embroidery crafts.

4. Teacher uses the sample embroidery craft to introduce the lesson and leads a discussion on the meaning and types of crafts.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction, explain the meaning of craft and state the types of craft.

5. Teacher guides pupils to identify and state the different between embroidery craft from other crafts.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils explain the unique different between embroidery craft and other crafts

6. Teacher gives each of the group materials for making embroidery crafts and guides them to make any embroidery craft as agreed by their.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the production of embroidery crafts.

7. Summarizes the lesson on the board using with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the lesson summary by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
