PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of national value;

2. state types of values that promote peace.

3. describe each type of values that promote peace.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can differentiate between good behaviour and bad behaviors.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of posters/pictures.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

National Values are generally acceptable standard of beliefs about what is good in our society or nation.

 

 

TYPES OF NATIONAL VALUES THAT PROMOTE PEACE

There are different types of national values that promote peace.

Some of these values are –

1. Honesty

2.Tolerance

3. Respect

4. Forgiveness

5. Self-control

6. Humanness

7. Moderation

8. Justice

9. Peace

10. Fairness

11. Involvement

12. Equity

13. Fairness

14. Generosity, etc.

 

 

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF EACH TYPE OF NATIONAL VALUES THAT PROMOTE PEACE 

HONESTY 

Honesty is one of the national values that promote peace in our society.

Honesty is the attitude of standing for the truth at all times.

It is the freedom from deceit, fraud, cheat or lie.

 

TOLERANCE 

Tolerance is the willingness to tolerate or accept people’s behavior, beliefs, opinions or practices that a different from your own.

Tolerance does not mean that you have to do what they do or you have follow their beliefs or practices.

 

RESPECT 

Respect is reciprocal.

Respect means treating others the way you want to be treated.

 

FORGIVENESS 

Forgiveness means to stop feeling anger toward someone who has done something wrong to you.

 

HUMANNESS

Humanness is the quality of treating one another as human beings not as animals.

 

ASSIGNMENT

Find out the meaning of the following concepts –

1. Self control

2. Moderation

3. Justice

4. Fairness

5. Humidity

 

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the lesson revision.

2. Based on the previous lesson and work to do at home, lead a discussion on honesty, tolerance, respect, forgiveness and humanness.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the discussion.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

Teacher asks pupils to:
