By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

identify and state the uses of simple machines.

Sample or charts showing different types of simple Machines.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities – Display sample or charts showing simple machines for the pupils to identify and state the 1uses of these machines.

Pupil’s Activities – Simple machine are uses for cutting, sweeping, fetching water, carrying, etc.

Teacher’s remark – A simple machine makes work more easier and very important at home and in the school. Discuss and summary the pupils points on the board.

On board, copy as I write.

USES OF SIMPLE MACHINES

A simple machine make work easier and used for –

1. eating foods, e.g. spoon and fork.

2. cutting e.g. Knife, cutlass, axe, scissor, etc.

3. sweeping and dusting cobweb e.g. broom

4. grinding e.g. blender, grinder stone, mortar and pestle, etc.

5. carry e.g. bucket, basket, wheelbarrow, etc.

6. fetching water e.g. bucket, etc.

8. hanging clothes e.g. hanger

9. fastening objects together e.g. rope, chain, etc.

10. hitting e.g. hammer, stone, etc.

LESSON 2 – REVISION, LESSON EVALUATION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

As stated in the performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Provides samples of simple machines in the home and school.

Pupil’s Activities – Collect and use some simple machines e.g broom, hoe, can opener, spoon, etc.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
