1. Meaning
Artificial insemination is the process of collecting male sperm from male animal and manually put them into the female reproductive tract.
2. Steps and Methods of Artificial Insemination
A. Artificial Vaginas
An artificial vaginas are used collect the male animal semen, most especially ram.
B. Massage Method
Massage artificial method is used to collect semen in male birds.
c. Elector Ejaculation
Electro ejaculation is the method used to collect semen from sexually mature male animals.
d. Recovery of Semen from the Vaginas after Service

- Easier and less expensive than natural mating.
- Easier and cheaper to import semen.
- Service many females possible.
- Allows for testing of offspring etc.
2. Disadvantages of Artificial Insemination
- Requires expertise.
- Difficulties in detecting heat.
- In-breeding heat showing if few bulk used.
- Handling procedure may be in adequate.
