PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should be able to:

1. match expression with realistic situation.

2. form comparative and superlatives adjectives.

3. use each in a sentences.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Cook book

2. Materials around the classroom

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

COMPARING THINGS ACCORDING TO WEIGHT, SIZE, HEIGHT, DISTANCE  SHAPE AND QUALITY 

Adjectives (positive) describe a noun. Comparative adjectives are used to compare one noun with another noun by adding er. Superlative adjectives are used to one or more noun(s) against a group of nouns by adding est.

 

 

POSITIVE  COMPARATIVE SUPERLATIVE 

WEIGHT – Big – Bigger – Biggest

QUALITY – Good – Better – Best

SIZE – Wide – Wider – Widest

HEIGHT – Tall – Taller – Tallest

DISTANCE – Long – Longer – Longest

 

 

COMPARING THINGS ACCURATELY, OR ON IMPRESSION 

A horse is bigger than a dog.

Ten is greater than eight.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizer’s the class depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays objects of the same shapes with different weights, sizes, height and distance.

4. Teacher asks pupils as group to arrange same objects according to their sizes, weight or height.

Pupils Activities – The pupils compare things according to weight, size, height, distance, shape and quality.

5. Teacher observes the pupil’s activities and uses them to introduce the lesson.

Pupils Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction to order to understand the content of the lesson.

6. Teacher guides pupils to prepare a table of adjectives showing positives comparative and superlative.

Pupils Activities – The pupils prepare a table according to the teacher’s instructions.

7. Teacher leads pupils to use appreciate words in situation which will bring out the meaning of sentences and also guides them to make sentences with the words.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils use the words in sentences orally and then in writing.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupils Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

 

 

LESSON EVALUATION

Teacher asks pupils to, 

1. Do oral test on comparatives and superlatives.

2. Make correct sentences matching expressions.
