The pupils can identify home, church, mosque, etc. as places.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing different public place such as schools, hospital, library, beach, etc.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

MEANING OF PUBLIC PLACE

A public space is a place that is open and accessible to the general public. That’s, a public place is a place where everyone can go to play, learn, work or get help.

 

EXAMPLES OF PUBLIC PLACE

1. Schools

2. Hospitals

3. Road and pavement

4. Community library

5. Beach

6. Field

7. Market

8. Recreation centres, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – ACTIVITIES THAT TAKE PLACE IN PUBLIC PLACES

Everyone can go to play, learn, work or get help. For example,

School – we go to school to learn and play with our friends.

Amusement park – we go to the amusement park to have fun.

Church/Mosque – we go to the church to pray, worship, sing and dance.

Market – our parents to the market to buy us things or to sell their goods.

Hospital – we go to the hospital to take care of ourselves.

Stadium – we go to the stadium to watch game such as football, tablet tennis, etc.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the pupils have learned.

2. Teacher displays chart showing different types of public places.

3. Teacher allows the children to identify and describe the places identified.

Children’s Activities – The children identify places like the school, market, etc. as public places.

4. Teacher uses the chart and the children relevant responses to introduce the lesson.

Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction.

5. Teacher explains the meaning of public places and guides the children to identify the uses of each places.

Children’s Activities – The children understand the meaning of public place and appreciate their uses.

6. Teacher uses the chart to explain different activities that take place at the public place.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson, asks questions and gives the children homework.

Children’s Activities – The children participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and do their homework at home.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
