2. identify clean and dirty environment.

3. describe their environment.

4. state the importance of environment.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify and state the importance features of their environment.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of pictures or charts.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Activity 1

Teacher’s Activities – Take the children out for a walk within and around the school, point to some physical features such as the sky, sun, ground, houses, animals, cars etc. for them to identify.

Note – Accept their local or other name. For example, heaven instead of sky.

Pupil’s Activities – The sky, ground, house, etc.

 

 

Teacher’s remark – One clap cheer for yourself. This is our environment. The sky, ground, houses, etc. are parts of our environment. Discuss the meaning of environment and its importance with the children.

 

MEANING OF ENVIRONMENT

Environment is everything around us.

The air, soil, water, plants, and animals make up the environment.

 

Activity 2 

Teacher’s Activities – Display different activities of people and animals such as farming, animal rearing and grazing, fishing, building, construction of road, etc. for the children to identify and describe.

Pupil’s Activities – Pictures descriptions.

Teacher’s remark – Good job, children. Our environment is very importance to man, animals and other things. Discuss the importance of environment.

 

IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENT

Our environment is very important because it provides us –

1. The food we eat.

 

 

2. The water we drink.

3. The air we breathe in and our.

4. The materials we used for making clothes, build houses, chairs and tables, etc.

 

LESSON 2 – CLEAN AND DIRTY ENVIRONMENTS

Teacher’s Activities – Displays chart showing clean and dirty environments for the children to identify.

Pupil’s Activities – This is clean. This one is dirty.

Teacher’s remark – Correct. Our environment for food, air, water, and other needs. Therefore, it is important for us to save and protect our environment.

Lead the children to pick dirt in the classroom and disposal properly. Tell them not to drop dirt on the floor or any other places. Always clean your environment clean

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Takes the children for a walk within and around the school.

Pupil’s activities –

3. Explains the meaning of environment.

Pupil’s activities – Say the meaning of environment.

4. Discuss the importance of environment.

 

 

Pupils activities – Participate in the class discussion.

5. Leads the children to different between clean and dirt environments.

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
