PREVIOUS LESSON – COMPUTER KEYBOARD – SPECIAL CHARACTERS (PRIMARY 5)
TOPIC: FUNCTION KEYS, SPACE BAR AND BACK SPACE KEY
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to recognize:
1. Function keys
2. Space bar
3. Back space bar
ENTRY BEHAVIOR
The pupils are required to already have learned computer keyboard – special characters.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Keyboard is an input device used to input data for processing and results.
FUNCTION KEYS
Function keys are –
F1 Brings up a help window in many applications, including browsers, Microsoft Office and others
F2 Renames a selected object
F3 Opens search box in browsers
F4 Displays the Address bar list in My Computer
F5 Updates the active Window. Useful to refresh a displayed page in a browser
F6 Cycles through the screen elements in a window
F7 Performs Spell and Grammar check (MS Word)
F8 Extend selection (MS Office)
F9 Updates fields (MS Office)
F10 Activates menu bar options
F11 Toggles between full screen and normal display in browsers
F12 Opens “Save as” dialog (MS Office)
SPACE BAR
Space bar is used for making a space between letters or words. It is the longest key on a computer keyboard.
BACK SPACE KEY
Back space key is used to delete or move the cursor backward.
PRESENTATION
- To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Guides pupils to identify and recognize the function keys, space bar and back space.

CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – application of keyboard.
