PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to identify and use simple present, past and present tense of common verbs.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can differentiate between yesterday, today and tomorrow.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s Activities – Ask the pupils to differentiate between yesterday, today and tomorrow and guide them with appropriate examples.
Pupil’s Activities – Yesterday is the past, today is the present while tomorrow is the future.
Teacher’s Remark – For active participation, give them and great cheer. Introduce the lesson – tenses.
TENSE
There are only three basic tenses in the English language: the past, the present and the future:
PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE
PAST TENSE
Past tense is anything that happened yesterday, last week, last month and last year.
PRESENT TENSE
Present tense is anything that happens today or right now.
FUTURE TENSE
Future tense is anything that will happen tomorrow.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Presents and demonstrates use of simple past, present and past tense of common verbs in tabular form.
Pupil’s Activities – Reproduce in writing teacher’s examples of simple past, present and past tense of common verbs in tabular form.
3. Guides pupils to use past, present and future tense of common verbs in sentences.
Pupil’s Activities – Produce their own sentences using the past, present and future tense of common verbs in sentences.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
