  • Supporting Details – facts or examples that explain the main idea.
  • Tone – the writer’s attitude or feeling.
  • Mood – the feeling created in the reader.
  • Purpose – the reason why the passage was written.

READING PASSAGE: Keeping Our Environment Clean

Keeping our environment clean is very important. A clean environment helps people live healthy and happy lives. When streets, classrooms, and homes are clean, diseases are less likely to spread.

Everyone has a role to play in keeping the environment clean. Pupils should throw waste into dustbins and keep their classrooms tidy. Parents should ensure that their homes are clean, while community members should participate in sanitation exercises.

A clean environment makes our surroundings beautiful and safe. It also helps people feel comfortable and proud of where they live. Therefore, everyone should develop the habit of cleanliness.
