TOPIC – DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAN AND WOMAN 

1. Different and Similarities between men and women

2. Duties of men and women in the society

3. Some problems of inequality

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. list ways in which men and women are the same, and the ways in which they are different.

2. list the traditional roles of men and women in society.

3. list the changing roles of present day women in society.

4. identify some problems of inequality.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

charts showing the position of man and woman in the society.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION 

Unlike those animals, men and women are more physically similar than we are different. Nonetheless, There are a few key distinctions in our physiques.

Some of them are designed to suit each sex for the role it plays in reproduction, while others exist to help us tell each other apart and to aid in our mutual attraction.

 

WAYS IN WHICH MEN AND WOMEN ARE THE SAME (SIMILARITIES) 

1. They are both human beings.

2. They both think and rethink.

3. They both need to eat to stay healthy.

 

 

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN 

1. Men have stronger muscles than woman.

2. Men have deep voice while women have soft voice.

3. Men have beard and moustache.

4. Women have breast and hip.

5. Women become mature earlier than men.

6. Both have different reproductive organs.

7. Men have X and Y chromosome while women have X chromosome.

 

ROLES OF MEN AND WOMEN IN THE SOCIETY 

MEN

1. Men provide the basic needs like food, clothing and shelter.

2. Men provide security and protect their family.

3. Men make almost all the decisions in the family.

4. Men are in charge of spiritual matters.

5. Men are the head of the family.

 

 

WOMEN 

1. Women cook and take care of the family.

2. Women give moral support to the members of the family.

3. Women take care of children moral upright.

4. Women perform other duties like cleaning, sweeping the house, and washing clothes and plates.

5. Women perform some of the men duties and responsibilities.

 

SOME PROBLEMS OF INEQUALITY

1. Unequal access to education.

2. Unequal access to political offices.

3. Discrimination based on gender with regard to resources.

4. Women are restricted from or getting to certain positions.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides pupils to state the similarities and different between men and women;

Pupil’s Activities – List the similarities and different between men and women.

3. Discusses the roles of men and women in the society;

Pupil’s Activities – State the roles of men and women in the society.

4. Guides pupils to discuss the problems of inequality between men and women;

Pupil’s Activities – Discuss the problems of inequality between men and women.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
