PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. describe information gained from texts in own words.

2. answer written comprehension questions based on materials read.

3. make predictions based on illustrations in stories or portions of stories and

4. justify predictions of events in stories (draw a conclusion).

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

FOCUS READING:

Making connections and responding to story themes, plots and settings.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

 

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides pupils to read a text or story, and

  • explain in their own words the instructions and message in the text or story.

Pupil’s Activities – Read stories or texts from books and explain in their own words instructions in texts or story.

  • answer questions based on what is read.

Pupil’s Activities – Answer questions based on text or story.

  • make connections between story themes, characters in the story and life experiences.

Pupil’s Activities – Dramatise the story and connect information in story to life experiences.

  • and use pictures or portions of the story to make predictions and justify such predictions.

Pupil’s Activities – Make predictions about events in the text or story.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

2. correctly answer questions based on texts or stories read.
