PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor)and be able to –

1. explain income yielding crafts;

2. identify different articles which could be made for household use and for sale;

3. importance income yielding crafts;

4. discuss the importance of earning an income from making crafts;

5. list five home – made crafts.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned apron and cap.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

some ready – made crafts for pupils to see and probably learn from;

crafts album;

tools for making crafts.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION

MEANING OF INCOME YIELDING CRAFTS 

Income yielding crafts are craft items that are produced for sales. For example, beads, apron and cap, baskets, bags, pots, artworks, etc.

These craft items are produced with hands and special skills in return exchange for money.

Some of these crafts can be used for decoration of self or the home.

IMPORTANCE OF INCOME YIELDING CRAFTS

The importance of income yielding craft are:

1. It generate income (money).

2. It represents cultural heritage.

3. It is an original version of foreign made good.

4. It reveals individual creativity.

5. It encourages the use of local made products.

6. It give people sense of belongings.

 

 

LESSON TWO – REVISION AND WEEK 5 LESSON ASSIGNMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions; Brings sewing tools to the class;

2. Lets pupils identify craft items with their uses.

Pupil’s Activities – State the uses of craft items identified.

3. Asks pupils to identify the materials used for some of the crafts.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the materials used for making some crafts.

4. Discusses the meaning of income yielding crafts.

Pupil’s activities – Explain income yielding crafts.

5. Discusses the importance of learning how to make useful crafts;

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the lesson by listening of crafts.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
