THE EARLY MAN

The history of agriculture is as old as man.

The early man were wanderers, hunter and toolmaker.

They lived in caves and under the tree covers in the forest.

They fed on vegetables, nuts, roots and animals.

THE ORIGIN OF EARLY MAN

1. THE EARLY MAN AS GATHERER

The early man were wanderers and gatherers of fruits, nuts and roots as they move from one place to another.

Some of the seeds of the fruits thrown around germinated and grew to fruit trees which later became useful to man as food.

This is how the practise of farming began by the early man.

2. THE EARLY MAN AS A HUNTER

The early man was involved in hunting animals.

The early woman engaged in raising new crops from the seeds and fruits gathered. The woman tried rear young animals captured by the men. They made clothes from animal skills.

In this way, the early people began farming.

3. THE EARLY MAN AS TOOLMAKER

The early man made tools from wood, stone or metal. He was able to gather vegetables, fruits and nuts with the tools he made for himself. He farm and hunt animals with these tools. He protects his family from wide and dangerous animals with the tools he made.

With the same tools, he made fire (by rubbing hard stones against another) to warm and cook his food. They made a strong and a better tool like spears, axes and hoes. This mark the beginning of primitive technology.
