PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. perform simple simple jump.
  2. explain the health benefits of jumping.
  3.  safety rules in jumping.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Organizes a simple high jump for the pupils and asks them to describe their activities. Listen to their points and summary points made on the board.

 

SIMPLE JUMPS – HIGH JUMP 

The simple jump involves jumping over raised bars.

 

 

BASIC SKILLS 

The basic skills involved in a simple jump are –

1. The run

The run can be long or short depending pupils style.

 

2. The take off

You must jump very high to clear the bar.

 

3. The flight

This is jumping over the raised bar.

 

4. The landing

 

HEALTH BENEFITS OF SIMPLE JUMP

1. Build stronger muscles and bones.

2. leaner bodies.

3. Less risk of becoming overweight.

4. A lower chance of getting type 2 diabetes.

5. Lower blood pressure.

6. A better outlook on life.

 

WEEK 9

SAFETY RULES IN SIMPLE JUMP 

1. Follow the simple instructions.

2. Be friendly with one another.

3.Wear appropriate kits.

4. Stay fit

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Demonstrates the events – simple jumping (run-up, take off, flight and landing).

Pupil’s Activities – observe the teacher’s demonstration in jumping, running (run up, take off, flight and landing).

3. Supervises and corrects practice by pupils.

Pupil’ Activities – Practice the event.

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
