PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain the term goal setting.

2. list types of goals.

3. discuss the importance of goal setting.

4. describe the basic steps for achieving goals.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Charts.

2. Pictures of achievers.

3. Activity worksheet (refer to pupils’ work plan).

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

 

MEANING OF GOAL SETTING 

Goal setting is a guide for achieving one’s plans.

 

Reading Bible Verses

Philippians 3

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

 

TYPES OF GOAL 

1. Short term

IMPORTANCE OF GOAL SETTING 

1. Helps accomplish what we want.

2. Makes us happy when we achieved something, etc.

 

STEPS FOR ACHIEVING GOALS 

1. Prayer.

2. Support of family or friends, etc.

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides class in discussion on goal setting.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the class discussion.

3. Leads pupils in listing several goals and classifying them into short and long terms.

Pupil’s Activities – List types of goal.

4. Leads class in discussing the importance of goal setting.

Pupil’s Activities – State the importance of goal setting.

5. Discusses the basic steps for achieving goals.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the class discussion.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
