PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the students should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. list the different information ages.

2. state the present information age.

3. identify the tools associated with each information  age.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Charts/pictures of development at different ages

2. CD-ROM/video tapes

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – Shows video clips, pictures/charts of different ages.

 

TECHNOLOGY OF DIFFERENT AGES 

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – Guides class discussion on the different information ages and their characteristics. 

1. Stone age

2. Iron age

 

 

3. Middle age

4. Industrial age

5. Electronic age

 

STONE AGE 

Stone age is the period when stones and other materials are used for making tools which are used for farming, hunting and transportation.

For examples,

  • Stones are used for making tools and weapons, building houses, defence, etc.
  • Stones and woods are used for making fire.
  • Animal skills are used for making clothes.
  • Clay is used for making pots and building houses.
  • Mountains and hills are used as defence of their territory.
  • Animals used as means of transportation.
  • Boats made from woods are used as water transportation.

 

IRON AGE 

Iron age is a period when attention began to shift on iron. Most of the tools are now made from iron.

  • Hoe
  • Cutlass
  • Iron cooking utensils

 

 

  • Iron weapons
  • Iron armour
  • Iron doors and fences, etc.

 

MIDDLE AGE

This is a period when knowledge are records and transfer one generation to another learning, reading and writing with feather pen and ink.

 

INDUSTRIAL AGE (MECHANIZATION) 

Industrial age is known as industrial revolution or mechanization which made mass production, improved means of communication and transportation and technology progress possible.

 

ELECTRONIC AGE (COMPUTER AND INTERNET)

Electronic age is also as information age that depends on the uses of computer and Internet.

 

LESSON SUMMARY 

Teacher’s/Student’s Activities – Writes notes on the board for the students copy the board summary into their notebooks.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the students some questions; then, the teacher –

 

 

2. Shows video clips, pictures/charts of different ages.

Student’s Activities – Watch video clips, pictures/charts and notes the development at each information age.

3. guides class discussion on the different information ages and their characteristics.

Student’s Activities – Participate in class discussion.

4. Writes notes on the board.

Student’s Activities – Copy the board summary into their notebooks.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
