INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Basketballs

2. Basketball court, if available.

3. Improvise basketball court with empty class or plain and smooth floor, if not available.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Play two (2) minutes basketball games for the pupils to identify the types of ball games. If they unable to identify, tell them.

Pupil’s response – Watch the basketball game played by the teacher to identify the game.

Teacher’s remark – This a basketball game. Give a great cheer for response to question and ask them to describe the game. Participate in their discussion and note the points on the board.

DESCRIPTION OF BASKETBALL GAME

Basketball is one of the ball games played with hands by shooting a ball through a raised goal called a basket.

It is a limited contact sport played on a rectangular court.

 

 

Three – on – three, two – on – two, and one – on – one competitions are also common basketball games or competitions.

The basic skills required for playing are as follows –

LESSON TWO – PERFORMING BASIC SKILLS OF BASKETBALL GAME

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Demonstrate and guide the pupils to practice and demonstrate basic in basketball game.

 

REVISION AND WEEK LESSON ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guide pupils to describe basketball game.

Pupil’s Activities – Describe basketball game.

 

 

3. Explain the basic Skills in basketball games.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher’s explanation and explain.

3. Demonstrates the basketball skills in basketball game.

Pupil’s Activities – Watch the teacher as he/she demonstrates the skills in basketball game.

4. Supervises as the pupils practice.

Pupil’s Activities – Practice and demonstrate the skills in basketball game.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
