CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display some of the items in a first aid box for the pupils to identify and discuss.

Pupil’s Activities – This is bandage, scissor, cotton, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Correct. The above items are contents of first aid box. Discuss the meaning of first aid and first aid box and summary the key points on the board.

 

MEANING OF FIRST AID 

Many lives are saved through first aid, given before the emergency services arrived.

 

First aid is the immediate care and support give to someone who is injured or slicked. First aid is given by a qualified person.

 

MEANING OF FIRST AID BOX

A first aid box is a collection of supplies and equipment that is used to give medical treatment.

 

CONTENT OF FIRST AID BOX (KIT)

A basic first aid kit may contain:

1. First aid books

2. Bondages

3. Scissors

4. Cotton wool

5. Gentia violet

6. Guaze

7. Iodine

8. Plaster of different sizes

9. Thermometer

10. Safety pins

11. Hand towel

12. Antiseptic (Dettol)

13. Cleansing agent/soap

14. Splint, etc.

LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES  

Teacher’s Activities – Based the previous assignment, ask the pupils to state the uses of first aid box.

Teacher’s remark – Listen to the pupils, Comment, discuss and summary some of the uses of first aid box on the board

 

USES OF FIRST AID BOX

A first aid box is a collection of supplies and equipment that is used to give immediate treatment. These collections served the following purpose:

1. It is used for giving immediate care and support to patients.

2. It is used for reducing infections.

3. It is used to save live.

4. It is used for reducing the time of recovery.

5. It is used for reducing pain.

6. It is used for preventing/reducing excessive blood loss.

7. It used for preventing the condition of the patients from getting from worse.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Shows the contents of a First Aid Box to pupils and lets the pupils identify each of the contents of first aid box.
