The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of table water, pure water and dispenser water packaged.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Packaging are materials used for wrapping or protecting goods for distribution, storage, sale or personal use.

Cup, can, plastic, bottle, polythene, paper or paperboard, etc. are materials used for packaging products.

 

 

REASONS FOR PACKAGING 

Goods or products are packaged for different reasons, some of them are as follows –

1. to protect the products or goods.

2. to promote the products or goods.

3. to attract consumers.

4. to differentiate the products or goods from another.

5. to increase sales.

6. to provide information about the products or goods. For examples – manufacture date, expiry date, etc.

7. to enhance usability.

8. to increase shelf life of the products or goods.

 

 

LESSON 2 – WATER AND PACKAGING  

Water is a liquid that descends from the clouds as rain, forms streams, lakes, and seas. Water is used for domestic, farming and industrial purposes. For examples – it is used for drinking, cooking, washing, etc. But not all water are hygiene and safe for domestic and industrial use. Hygiene water are safe water.

Safe water requires special treatment and purification to make it safe for the drinking. Sometimes, water are packaged for immediate and future purposes.

 

 

PACKAGED AND UNPACKAGED WATER 

Water is one the products or goods that is packaged. Packaged water is a drinkable water that’s packaged inside nylons, glass bottles, plastic bottles or other containers for private and commercial purposes. The water is hygiene because it is well treated and purified.

 

PACKAGED WATER IN NIGERIA 

The most common packaged water in Nigeria are sachet and plastic bottle water.

 

 

LESSON 3 – FEATURES OF SAFE PACKAGED WATER 

The features of a safe packaged water are as follows –

1. Brand label

2. Registration number

3. Manufactured and expired dates

4. Serial number

5. Gross and net weight

6. Company name and address

 

REASONS FOR PACKAGING WATER 

Water are packaged for many reasons, some of the reasons are as follows –

1. For hygienic and safe drinking.

2. To keep it in good condition for future use.

3. To prevent the water from contamination.

4. To preserve its taste, colour, etc.

5. To enhance its usability.

6. To keep it safe until you are ready to have a drink.

7. To make it portable and easy to transport.

8. For private and commercial purposes.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pair depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays sachet and plastic water bottles for the groups to identify and discuss the different between the packaging.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and discuss the different between the packaging.

4. Teacher listens to the pupils and Uses their relevant responses to introduce the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of water packaging.

5. Teacher uses other packaged products or goods to leads a discussion on the meaning and reasons for packaging.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion.

6. Teacher uses the meaning of packaging to guide pupils as groups to discuss packaged water, identify the features of packaged water and state the reasons for packaging water.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils discuss packaged water, identify the features of packaged water and state the reasons for packaging water.

7. Teacher organizes a competition among groups to discuss the different between packaged and unpackaged water.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils differentiate between packaged and unpackaged water.

8. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions write as instructed.

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
