PREVIOUS LESSON – 

TOPIC – A Passage from A Folktales 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

  1. Use the unfamiliar words correctly and in sentences.
  2. Identify how the story develops logically.
  3. Describe how sentences and paragraphs are linked.
  4. Do oral and written comprehension exercise on the passage.
  5. Use the punctuation marks effectively.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

  1. Course book
  2. Supplementary readers
  3. Textualised folktales
  4. Pictures

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Lets pupils practise making sentences with unfamiliar words and structural items in the passage.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – Make sentences with words given out by the teacher.
  4. Skims the passage with the pupils.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Skim the passage to get the story.
  6. Reads the passage to the class.
  7. Pupil’s Activities – Read the passage in turns.
  8. Lets pupils take turns reading the passage.
  9. Pupil’s Activities – Do oral and written comprehension on the passage.

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
