CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Have you ever received a birthday card, Christmas card, or an invitation card? Cards are special items used to send greetings, congratulations, invitations, appreciation, and good wishes during important occasions.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the types and uses of cards, the materials needed for making cards, and how to create and decorate cards for different ceremonies such as birthdays, weddings, Christmas, and New Year celebrations.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF CARD MAKING

Card making is the art of designing and creating greeting or decorative cards for different occasions and ceremonies.

MEANING OF CARD DECORATION

Card decoration is the process of making a card beautiful by adding colours, pictures, ribbons, glitter, stickers, patterns, or other decorative materials.

TYPES OF CARDS

1. Birthday Card – A card used to wish someone a happy birthday and celebrate their birthday.

2. Wedding Card – A card used to congratulate a bride and groom on their wedding or marriage.

3. Christmas Card – A card exchanged during the Christmas season to send greetings and good wishes.

4. New Year Card – A card used to wish people a happy, peaceful, and prosperous New Year.

5. Get-well Card – A card sent to someone who is sick or recovering from an illness to wish them a quick recovery.

6. Thank-you Card – A card used to express gratitude or appreciation for kindness, help, or gifts received.

7. Invitation Card – A card used to invite people to an event or ceremony, such as a birthday party, wedding, graduation, or school programme.

8. Congratulations Card – A card used to congratulate someone on an achievement, success, promotion, graduation, or other happy occasion.

SUMMARY
