CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
A computer is a device designed to work with information or data.
Computer information can be words, numbers, pictures, movies, or sounds.
When a computer is slow, frequently crashes, copying itself, etc. That means the computer is infected with virus.
MEANING OF COMPUTER VIRUS
A computer virus is a program designed to cause damage to a computer after gaining access.
A computer virus can duplicate your personal data.
The duplicate data spread and attach itself to a program or file.
Then, slow down a computer.
EFFECTS OF COMPUTER VIRUSES
A computer virus makes the computer to be –
1. Slow performance
2. Frequent crashes
3. Storage space shortage
4. Missing files
5. Browser homepage change
6. Disabled antivirus, etc.

- Resident virus is hidden and stores within the computer memory.
- It affects any files and programs that run on the computer.
DIRECT ACTION VIRUS
- Direct action virus is a type of file infector virus that attach itself to an .exe or .com file.
- It makes file inaccessible
MULTIPARTITE VIRUS
- Multipartite virus is a virus that attacks infected computer.
- It exposed the computer to cyber threat.
MACRO VIRUS
- Macro virus is written in macro language that is used for software applications, such as word processing programs.
- It damages documents or other computer software.
FILE INFECTOR VIRUS
- File infector virus is type of computer virus that infects executable files.
- It causes permanent damage or make files unusable.
