CONTENT OF THE LESSONÂ
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Disease is a failure of the body to function well as a result of the activities of germs or pathogens.
The steps taken to prevent the contact and spread of diseases are known as preventive measures of diseases.
MEANING OF DISEASE PREVENTIVE MEASURESÂ
Disease preventive measures are necessary steps taken to prevent the contact and spread of diseases.
Infectious diseases are caused by types of bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi around us.
It’s important to understand how these diseases are spread.
If you understand the transmission process, you can use this knowledge to protect yourself and help prevent the spread of diseases.
DISEASE PREVENTIVE MEASURESÂ
The preventive measures of disease are as follows:
1. Adequate nutrition
2. Good hygiene
3. Good ventilation
4. Clean environment
5. Use of safe water
6. Proper disposal of refuse and sewage
7. Seeking and getting treatment on time
8. Exercise regularly
9. Immunizations and Vaccination
10. Health education
11. Enough rest
LESSON 2 – DIFFERENT BETWEEN SIGNS AND SYMPTOMSÂ
Signs and symptoms, both are indication of abnormalities that require medication or medical attention.
MEANING OF HEALTH SIGNS
A sign is a health issue that can be observed by the doctors and other people by feeling, hearing or seeing.
COMMON SIGNS
Common signs are as follows:
1. Loss of weight
2. Body rashes and bruise
3. Measles
4. Apollo
5. Cough and catarrh
6. Dizziness
7. Sweating
8. Swelling
9. Numbness
10. Loss of appetite, etc.
SYMPTOMS
A symptom is the effect felt and experienced only by the patients.
COMMON SYMPTOMSÂ
Common symptoms are as follows:
1. Feeling feverish
2. Headache
3. Cold
4. Sore throat
5. Discomfort or other pain or pains in the body.
LESSON 3 – CONCEPTS OF SICKNESS AND DISEASESÂ
SICKNESSÂ
Sickness is the state of being unhealthy.
ILLNESSÂ
Illness is a disease or sickness affecting the body or mind because an organ or part is unable work normal.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher asks pupils to state the reason why we waste our hands before eating, waste our plates after eating, clean our environment, etc.
