By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain the meaning of play creation.

2 explain two ways of creating plays.

3 create a drama through script writing with songs

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Plays a video of a short play involving children as actors.

MEANING OF DRAMA

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Based on the short play, asks the pupils – what is drama? Listen to them and support their explanation.

Drama is a form of play.

It may last about five to fifteen minutes.

A drama sketch is a short play.

MEANING OF PLAY CREATING 

Play means to act, to do or to perform a play or drama.

Drama is also a play written for theater, television, radio, and film.

 

PROCESS OF CREATING A PLAY  

The process of creating a good play are –

1. Scripting is a written play or drama.

This scripting, people read and their roles in the script.

 

2. Improvisation is an unwritten play or drama.

In improvisation, the script are given to the actors and actresses verbally.

 

LESSON TWO – CREATING DRAMA THROUGH SCRIPT WRITING OR SONGS

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Divide the class into two or group depend on the size of the class and encourage each group to write a play.

Leads pupils to start a Play Creating Process through script writing with songs like –

Guides them to create drama based on the above songs.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Plays a video of a play involving children as actors.

Pupil’s Activities – Watch a video of children’s play.

3. Explains the meaning of play creating.

4. Explains the process of play creating.

5. Explains the concepts of scripting and improvisation.

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the explanation by the teacher.

6. Leads pupils to start a play creating process through script writing or songs.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the play creating process through script writing with songs.

CONCLUSION

• To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
