PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. show their ear and nose.

2. mention the functions of the ear and nose.

3. identify and state the dangers of not caring for the ears and nose.

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify nose bleeding and ear discharge.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of –

1. materials for cleaning the ear and nose e.g. handkerchief, face towel and cotton ball.

2. charts showing ears discharge and nose bleeding.

METHOD OF TEACHING 

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

WRITING INSTRUCTION 

Copy as I write or draw as I write. This instruction should be given when you need the pupils to write or draw.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES  

Teacher’s Activities – Review the functions of ears and nose. Then, display charts showing ears discharge and nose bleeding for the pupils to identify and discuss the causes.

Pupil’s Activities –

Teacher’s remark – When you don’t take care of your nose and ears, one of these things or more could happen to you. Discuss and write on the board the danger of not caring your ears and nose.

DANGERS OF NOT CARING FOR THE EAR AND THE NOSE 

THE EARS 

1. Ears discharge

2. Earache

3. Swimmer’s ear

THE NOSE 

1. Nose bleeding

LESSON 2 – REPEAT THE LESSON 1 

ASSIGNMENT

Find out ways of caring for the ears and the nose.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss the dangers of not caring for the ears and the nose.

Pupil’s Activities – Active participation in the discussion.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
