TOPIC – EFFECTS OF LACKS OF CARES ON THE GROWING ANIMALS 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. state the effects of lack of cares on the growing animals.

2. care for young animals in the school farm.

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

Rearing of animals like chickens.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Charts of healthy and unhealthy animals.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION 

Young farm animals require special care soon after they are born.

Growing farm animals also have some specific needs and cares to grow well and be productive.

When the cares for the growing animals are not available, it unable the young animals to grow well and unproductive.

CARES FOR YOUNG SCHOOL ANIMALS 

1. Balanced ration

2. Clean water

3. Adequate medication

4. Clean environment

5. Housing

6. Good, skillful and competence animal farm workers.

7. Separate the sick animals for treatment. This prevents the spread of animal diseases.

8. Maintain appropriate levels of animal welfare.

9. Maintain healthy animals.

10. Prevent and control animals pests and diseases.

11. Recognise animal symptoms.

12. Good and proper record of farm animals.

 

LESSON TWO – EFFECTS OF LACK OF CARES ON THE GROWING ANIMALS 

1. It leads to poor growth

2. It reduces production of milk and meat.

3. It reduces the farmer income.

4. It attracts to animals diseases.

5. The animals lost its body figure.

6. The animals become weak and sick.

7. Untimely death.

Teacher’s Activities – Take the pupils on excursion to the nearest animal farm to interview the farmers how they care for the young animals and the effects of not taking care of. 

REVISION AND WEEK 9 LESSON ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discusses the cares of young animals with the pupils.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate and identify the basic needs and cares for the young school animals

3. Engages pupils to identify the effects of lack proper care for young animals.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the effects of lack of cares on the growing animals.

CONCLUSION

• To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
