The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of recycling materials.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
This prevents potentially useful materials from being thrown away or destroyed. It also reduces the consumption of fresh raw materials and saves the environment from pollution. Recycling is part of the waste disposal hierarchy – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
A wide variety of different materials can be recycled, including paper, plastic, glass, metal, textiles and electronic equipment.
MENDING OF RECYCLING WASTE
Recycling is a process to convert waste materials into reusable objects.
That’s, it is a way of reusing waste products.
For example,
1. Cloth can be reuse by washing, ironing or give to other people who can use them.
2. Paint container are also used for other purpose such as fetching water from the well, etc.
ADVANTAGES OF WASTE RECYCLING
Some important products obtainable from solid wastes are described below:
1. Prevent potentially useful materials being thrown away.
2. It reduces the consumption of fresh raw materials.
3. It saves the environment from pollution.
4. It is cheaper.

EXPECTED ANSWER
1. Wash them, iron them, and give to other people who can use them.
2. To reduce the amount of waste generated, to care for our environment, to make things last longer.
3. Glass cups, plastic bottles, clothes we no longer used, water, and fast food containers.
PRE LESSON ACTIVITIES
Ask pupils to bring straw , bottle tops, empty plastic bottles, etc.
LESSON 2 – CREATING RECYCLING OBJECTS
Organize the pupils into groups. Guide them to produce any objects with the available materials.
For example, straw can be used for making bead, counting materials, etc.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Discuss with the pupils meaning of recycling.
Pupil’s Activities – Listen, ask questions and discuss waste and how to recycle waste.
3. Guides pupils to state ways of recycling waste;
Pupil’s Activities – State ways of recycling waste.
4. Arranges for a guest to talk on recycling waste;
Pupil’s Activities – Listen, ask questions and discuss waste and how to recycle waste.
5. Summarize the lesson the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
