By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain the meaning of technology.

2. identify the forms of Technology – underdeveloped technology.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Charts and posters, hoes, cutlasses, vehicles, etc.

2. Matches and lighter.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

WEEK 2 – INTRODUCTION 

IDENTIFICATION OF SIMPLE TECHNOLOGY – CHART OR SAMPLE OF LIGHTER 

Introductory Questions 

1. What is this? 

 

 

Pupil’s Expected Response – It is a lighter.

2. What is lighter used for? 

Pupil’s Expected Response – It is used for making fire.

3. What other things we can used for making fire? 

Pupil’s Expected Response – Matches

4. Between lighter and matches, which is easy for making fire? 

Pupil’s Expected Response – Lighter

Teacher’s remark – You are all correct. We can also used stones and sticks to make fire.

Lighter, matches and stones are example of technology.

 

WEEK 3 – MEANING OF TECHNOLOGY 

Technology is the use of knowledge to create new devices or tools.

 

FORMS OF TECHNOLOGY 

There are two types of technology – underdeveloped and developed technology. The used of stones and matches are called underdeveloped technology. While the used of lighter to make fire is called developed technology.

 

EXAMPLES OF UNDERDEVELOPED TECHNOLOGY 

1. Farming with hoes and cutlasses.

2. Using of town crier.

3. Use of stones to make fire.

4. Use of donkeys for transportation, etc.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides the pupils to identify and name examples of underdeveloped technology.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify and name examples of under developed  technology.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
