The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Oranges, Cardboard papers, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES (5 minutes) 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Reviews the activities in the previous lesson in week 7. As reviewed, guides the pupils to understand the concept of quarter – 1 over 4 on collection of objects.

For example,

Let the 4 pupils (A, B, C and D) share 12 pencils among themselves.

Teacher’s remark – Each of you is hold ¼ of the collection of pencils known as QUARTER. 

¼ of 12 = 4

Guide the pupils to find ¼ of the following numbers by counting,

1. 20

¼ of 20 = 5

LESSON TWO – 3/4 OF COLLECTION OF OBJECTS 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Guides pupils to fold cardboard paper once and fold again to get four parts and shade the three parts, or cut an orange into four equal parts and remove one part.

Teacher’s remark – The part removed is known as quarter while the remaining part is three quarters written as ¾.

Repeat the above activities with different objects.

For example,

1. 20 books

¾ of 20 books =  15 books.

2. ¾ of 40 pencils = 30 pencils.

LESSON EVALUATION/CLASS WORK/ASSIGNMENT 

Find the ¾ of the following –

By folding,

1. Two A4 papers

2. A cardboard

By counting,

3. Two crete of eggs.

4. A match box with full sticks (even content).

 

LESSON THREE I FOUR – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides pupils to fold cardboard paper once and fold again to get four parts and shade the three parts, or cut an orange into four equal parts and remove one part.
