LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. state guidelines for cleaning the home and its surroundings.
2. describe processes for cleaning the home and surroundings.
3. clean their rooms and classrooms.

The pupils can state materials used for cleaning our home and its surroundings.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of tools and agents of cleaning different parts of a room, e.g. broom, water, buckets, mop, brushes, detergent, towels, dustbin, etc.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Home is a place where people or animals lives.
Our home and its environment are very important to our healthy life style.
Healthy environment is a healthy home.
Healthy home and environment are surroundings that are safe for people to live.
DIFFERENT ROOMS FOUND IN HOME
There are many rooms in a home which serves different purpose.
1. Sitting room
Materials for cleaning – Broom or vacuum cleaner and mop.
2. Bedroom
Materials for cleaning – Broom or vacuum cleaner and mop.
3. Dining room
Materials for cleaning – Broom or vacuum cleaner and mop.
4. Kitchen
Materials for cleaning – Hard and soft sponge, detergents, broom or vacuum cleaner and mop.
5. Food store
Materials for cleaning – Broom or vacuum cleaner and mop.
6. Bathroom
Materials for cleaning – Broom or vacuum cleaner and mop.
7. Toilet
Materials for cleaning – Hard and soft brush and broom or vacuum cleaner and mop.
REASONS FOR CLEANING THE HOME, CLASSROOM AND ENVIRONMENT
1. To prevent the spreading germs and diseases.
2. To prevent pests and Insects.
3. To maintain healthy home, classroom and environment.
4. To be attractive.

GUIDELINES FOR CLEANING THE HOME AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
Each part of the home should be clean regularly or on a daily basis while its surroundings should be on daily, weekly or monthly depending on the area.
LESSON 2 – PROCESSES FOR CLEANING THE HOME
OUR HOME
1. Clear the cobweb.
2. Make your bed.
3. Wipe the chair and tables.
4. Sweep or vacuum clean the rooms.
5. Wipe your bedside table every morning.
6. Organize the rooms, the sitting room, the kitchen and the cupboard.
7. Mop the floor with disinfectant.
8. Organize the chairs and tables.
9. Clean the kitchen utensils.
10. Wipe mirrors and glass.
11. Defect each room.
OUR SURROUNDING/ENVIRONMENT
1. Clear the wall and roof cobweb.
2. Wet the floor it it is a dusty floor.
3. Sweep or vacuum clean the rooms.
4. Trim or hoe and rake the grass area.
5. Trim and water the flower.
6. Cut the tress branches if there is any.
7. Clear the gutter.
APPLICATION OF PROCESSES
Uses the classroom, cupboard and school toilets to guide pupils in groups or pairs to practice and demonstrate simple cleaning.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,
1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.

3. Lets pupils identify and discuss briefly.
