2. identify the major joints in the body
3. state the functions of bones and joint.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. Chart or model of human skeleton.
2. Showing types of bones and joints.

WRITING INSTRUCTION

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN BODY
Teacher’s Activities – Lead the pupils to identify parts of the body – my head, my shoulders, my knees and toes, etc.
Pupil’s response – Follow the teacher’s lead.
Teacher’s remark – Give a cheer for active participation.
SKELETAL SYSTEM
Teacher’s Activities – Display sample of skeleton or chart showing skeletal system for the pupils to identify each bone in the parts of the body.
Pupil’s response – Identify the content of the chart. Welcome different opinions.
Teacher’s remark – Give a great cheer for response to question. This is human skeletal (skeleton) system. Ask the pupils, what is skeletal system? Listen to them for the explanation of skeletal system and note the meaning on the board.
MEANING OF SKELETAL SYSTEM
Human skeletons are the bones of the human body.
Human skeletal system are the structure of bones in the body. That’s, it is the arrangement of bones put together.
All the bones in the human body together are called the human skeleton.
MAJOR BONES OF THE BODY AND WHERE THEY LOCATED
Teacher’s Activities – Lead the pupils to identify all major bones in the human body. Let them feel their body to locate the relevant bones.
Pupil’s response – Follow the teacher’s lead.
Teacher’s remark – Give a great cheer for active participation and quick response. Note the major bones on the board.
BONES AND THEIR LOCATION
- Head – skull
- Neck and the back of the body – spine
- Chest – ribs and breastbone
- Arms – shoulder blade
- Hands – wrist bones
- Pelvis – hip bones
- Legs – thigh bone
- Feet
The body is made of many different bones. The human skeleton is made up of 206 bones.
The places where the bones meet and join are called joints.
LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s Activities – Guide the pupils of count the number of bones in the human body. Sample of skeletal system (if available) or each pupil count the bones in their body.
Pupil’s response – Follow the teacher’s instructions in counting.
Teacher’s remark – Record the number of bones counted and celebrate active participation. Summary the number of bones on the board.

FUNCTIONS OF THE BONES
1. It give shape to the body.
2. It makes movement possible.
3. It protects the brain, heart and lung.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Using charts or model of human skeleton: describes the major bones and describes the major joints.
Pupil’s Activities – Observe the chart on skeletal system or the model of human skeleton. Name and state the major bones in the body.
3. Guides pupils to state the functions of bones and joints
Pupil’s Activities – State the functions of bones and joints in the human body.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
