WHAT IS GOOD MANNER?

Good manner is showing respect to other people and their properties.

 

EXAMPLES OF GOOD MANNER 

Good manners are the only things that make the world a better place for us all to live together in good and harmony. Good manners include,

1. Greetings

2. Being Punctual

3. Respecting Elders

4. Always speak the truth

5. Listening actively

6. Say please

7. Say thank you

8. Wait Your Turn

9. Say ‘Excuse Me’

10. Ask Permission

11. Knock on Closed Doors

12. Introduce Yourself

13. Say ‘Pardon Me’ or ‘I’m sorry’

14. Hold the Door

15. Offer to Help

16. Listen when other people are talking

17. Ask questions

18. Look for opportunities to compliment other

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD MANNER 

Good manners are very important in life as because,

1. It helps us to behave well in society.

2. It helps us to win the heart of people in the public place.

3. It builds healthy relationships with their peers, teachers, and elders.

4. It makes the world a better place.

5. It draws out the good in us.

 

LESSON PRESENTATION

To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the children have learned.

2. Teacher displays chart showing children greeting and showing respect to one another.

3. Teacher lets the children to examine, identify and describe the activities on the chart.

Children’s Activities – The children identify, understand and describe the pictures.

4. Teacher uses the chart and the children relevant responses to introduce the lesson, explain the meaning of good manners using appropriate examples in the school.

Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the meaning of good manners by demonstrating the examples of good manners.

5. Teacher uses a story to tell the people the importance of good manners.

Children’s Activities – The children understand the concept of the story by appreciating the importance of good manners.

7. Teacher summarizes the lesson in a very simple sentence, asks the children questions based on the lesson taught and gives the children work to do at home.

Children’s Activities – The children participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions and do their homework at home.
