LESSON 1 – MEANING AND IMPORTANCE OF EXERCISE
WHAT IS EXERCISE?
Exercise is a way of keeping the body healthy through being active. To keep our body healthy, we must exercise our body such as playing, moving, jumping, walking, swimming, and so on. That’s,
Running is an exercise.
Walking is an exercise.
Running is an exercise.
Playing is an exercise.
Exercise keeps our body healthy and active everyday.
WHAT ARE IMPORTANCE/BENEFITS OF EXERCISE?
1. Exercise makes us strong.
2. Exercise makes us feel happy and active.
3. Exercise makes grow well and healthy.
4. Exercise makes us live long.
5. Exercise gives our body good shape.
LESSON TWO – MEANING AND IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP
MEANING OF SLEEP?
Sleep is the time we closed our to rest. When people sleep, they lay down and close their eyes. People can sleep at anytime, mostly at night and when they are tired or sick.
Getting enough sleep helps improve concentration, memory, and learning. It also keeps us healthy and helps us heal from injuries or illness. Too little sleep can make you angry, sad and forgetful and can make it harder to pay attention.
WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP?
1. Sleep makes us feel fresh.
2. Sleep makes us feel happy.
3. Sleep makes us grow well and strong.
4. Sleep makes us to learn new things.
5. Sleep makes us to remember things we learn.
6. Sleep gives us a lot of energy to learn and play.
LESSON PRESENTATION
To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. Teacher displays showing different types of exercise such as walking, running, jumping, etc.
2. Teacher points to each exercise one after the other for the children to identify and describe.
Children’s Activities – The children identity and describe pictures.
3. Teacher uses the sample/chart displayed to introduce lesson and takes out for basic exercise.
Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction and participate actively in the exercise.
4. Teacher tells the children that walking, jumping, running, etc. means exercise as he/she explains the meaning and the importance of exercise.
Children’s Activities – The children understand and appreciate different forms of exercise.
5. Teacher displays another chart showing a child sleeping.
6. Teacher uses the chart to explain the meaning and importance of sleep.
Children’s Activities – The children listen to the teacher, understand and appreciate the importance of sleep in their lives.
8. Teacher summarizes the lesson, asks the children few questions and gives the children home work.
Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the summary of the lesson, answer questions and do their homework at home.
