PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to;

distinguish between communicable and non – communicable diseases.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION

COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

Communicable diseases are diseases that can be spread from one person to another and cause a large number of people to get sick.

This is possible through air, food, water, sex and through vectors like animals (mosquitoes, flies, lice, and tsetse flies), etc.

For examples are cholera, HIV/AIDS, gonorrhoea, some kinds of cough, tuberculosis, and dysentery.

 

Non communicable diseases are diseases that cannot be spread through such contact, or any other means.

For examples are epileptic fits, obesity, ulcer, acne, diabetes, and sickle cell.

 

Teacher’s Activities – Guides and allows the pupils to differentiate between communicable and non-communicable diseases. 

 

LESSON TWO – REVISION AND WEEK 8 ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Leads pupils to identify the differences between communicable and non – communicable diseases.

Pupil’s Activities – Take part in the discussions and group activities.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
