By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. identify different types of substances people take into their body.
2. explain the meaning of substances we take.
3. reasons for taking substances into the body.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can identify and the reasons we eat food, we drink water or take drugs.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of substances we take into our body.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.Â

CONTENT OF THE LESSON Â
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Substances are what we eat, drink inhale that make our body healthy.
For examples,
1. Food
2. Drink
3. Drugs
4. Inhaler, etc.
There are forms of substance are solid, liquid and gas.
REASONS FOR TAKING SUBSTANCES Â
People have different reasons for taken substance into their body. Some of the reasons are,
1. To stay alive
2. Hunger
3. Thirst
4. Enjoyment
5. Imitation
6. Curiosity
7. Availability, etc.
LESSON 2 – DRAMA SHOWING REASONS FOR TAKING SUBSTANCESÂ
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays sample or chart showing different substances.
3. Lets the pupils identify each of the substance.
4. Asks to state the reasons for taking any of them.
Pupil’s Activities – Examine the chart and state the reasons for taking substances into the body.
5. Uses the pupil’s responses to introduce the lesson and leads class discussion on the reasons for taking substances into the body.
Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction and state other reasons for taking substances into the body.
6. Calls on some of the pupils to demonstrate any reasons for taking substances into the body.
7. Organizes the pupils in groups or pairs to dramatize the reasons for taking substances into the body.
Pupil’s Activities – Demonstrate and dramatize in pairs or groups the reasons for taking substances into the body.
9. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Active participation in the lesson summary and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
