LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. discuss safety precautions in the Office.

2. mention safety precautions to be taken at the Office.

3. describe some of the safety precautions to be taken at home.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can differentiate between office and classroom.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of showing office tools and equipments.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Safety means keeping yourself and others free from harm or danger. One of the ways to keep ourselves free from harm or danger is to stay away from something that can harm us harm us in the office.

 

MEANING OF OFFICE 

An office is a place set aside in an organization to carryout an clerical work and administrative duties. Office safety is very important for both employees, employer and business itself.

Safety in the office includes both physical and psychological safety. Office safety means a place that is completely free from harm or danger and any activities that can make it unsafe.

 

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IN THE OFFICE 

Safety precautions at home are the actions taken to ensure that we are protected from possible danger or injury in the office.

To protect ourselves at the home, we must –

1. Keep a clean workstation.

2. Use recommended safety devices, tools and equipments.

3. Always report unsafe conditions.

4. Always take breaks.

 

 

LESSON 2 – SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IN THE OFFICE (CONTINUATION) 

5. Avoid skipping steps, recommended instructions and procedures.

6. Always maintain proper posture.

7. Always follow the instructions.

8. Offer guidance and support to all new employees.

9. Avoid using tools or machinery you’re not trained for.

10. Know your office emergency procedures.

11. Call for help during emergency, etc.

 

REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,

1. Teacher revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in lesson review.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils into groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher displays chart showing the Head Teacher office and lets the pupils identify and describe.

4. Teacher displays chart showing more offices such as banks, government, etc.

5. Teacher guides pupils to recognize and discuss different between office of one person and people.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and differentiate between single and multi offices.

6. Teacher uses the pupils active participate to introduce the lesson.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand its concept.

7. Teacher takes pupils to the Head Teacher office to identify and discuss the uses of office tools and equipments.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils identify and discuss the uses of office tools and equipments.

8. Teacher uses activity 7 above to leads a discussion on the safety precautions in the office.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion and analyze the importance of following office safety rules and regulations.

9. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
