CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

PAUL’S PLACE OF BIRTH (Tarsus) – Acts 22:3

Then Paul said: 3 “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.

PAUL’S NAME, NATIONALITY AND RELIGION

1. Paul’s Name – Saul.

2. Paul’s Nationality – Paul was a Hebrew, a Roman, and a Greek.

3. Paul’s Religion – He was originally a Judaiser and later a Christian.

Then Paul said: 3 “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.

PAUL’S EARLY LIFE 

The name PAUL was a Roman name. His original name was SAUL. Paul’s father became a Roman citizen and gave his son, the name Paul. Paul means Little. This made Paul a Roman citizen as well as a Jew.

Paul’s father was a tent maker. Paul learnt how to make tents from his father. He was obedience and hardworking child. Paul became a lawyer and won the titled – Son of the Law. 

LESSON 2 – PAUL’S PERSECUTION OF THE CHURCH 

The church in Jerusalem began to suffer cruel persecution. All the believers, except the apostles, were scattered throughout the provinces of Judea and Samaria.

Reading Bible – Act 8:1 – 3

3 But Saul tried to destroy the church; going from house to house, he dragged out the believers, both men and women, and threw them into jail.

PAUL’S APPROVAL OF STEPHEN’S DEATH 

Paul was one of the members of the church who preached about Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour. Nobody believed he preaching of Stephen. They arrested him and tried him.

After the trial, Paul and his friend were among those who said Stephen should be stoned to death. Stephen was stoned to death.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Asks Pupil’s if any of them bears the name Paul.

4. Narrates the story of Paul, his parentage, education and early opposition to the way of Christ.
